Fawzia Khan

Fawzia is an admitted practising Attorney, Conveyancer, Notary Public, and experienced mediator with more than 23 years of experience. Her law practice based in Mount Edgecombe opposite the Mount Edgecombe golf estate was founded in 1990. In 1992 she was appointed as Commissioner of the Small Claims Court. She holds a BA (Law) and an LLB degree from the University of KZN (previously Durban- Westville) and trained as mediator with The Law Society of South Africa. With the court- based mediation now set to become a reality, it will certainly shift the mindset of many people who may regard mediation as a "soft approach".  'Mediation is an affordable, efficient, viable and altogether better alternative to litigation.', says Fawzia. The cost of litigation can sometimes be tenfold the cost of a proper mediation. It certainly makes commercial sense to explore mediation as your first step in any dispute resolution. When not helping people with sound advice, negotiation and mediation she loves value time with her family and her three children. Her husband, a golf enthusiast, got her to add golf to family time.
