Prof. Stephen de la Harpe

Professor Stephen de la Harpe is associate professor at the North-Western University, Potchefstroom Campus, Faculty of Law. He has more than 34 years of experience in law, and is an accredited commercial arbitrator and mediator. Stephen holds a BA Law, LLB and LLM (UP), a BComm and LLD (Unisa), and a postgraduate Diploma in Dispute Settlement, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation (Stellenbosch University/USB). He is a CD/ADCS and DiSAC accredited mediator. Stephen is admitted as attorney and advocate at the High Court, having dealt inter alia with environmental law, contract law and alternative dispute resolution. Stephen practices since 1986 as advocate. His passion is teaching and dispute resolution. He lectured students at the Pretoria bar, and at the Centre for Environmental Management North-West, and lectures the Law of Delict, the Law of Contract, specific forms of agreement, Private International Law, International Commercial Arbitration and High Court Practice at the North-West University. Stephen is at home in the rural areas and loves farming.
